Coastal TVET College Application 2023: How to Apply Online

Coastal KZN TVET College

Nestled on the East coast of South Africa is the lush, green province of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), well known for its warm weather for most of the year. This is primarily thanks to the warm Mozambique current, which flows south, parallel to the province, carrying warm water from the Equator.

This is the home of Coastal KZN TVET College. With a total of 8 campuses, this vast institution’s footprint spans across most of the province. The main strength of this TVET college is how it reaches deep into the most rural parts of the province.

The Appelsbosch Campus caters for the hinterland community of Ozwatini and its surroundings. The people who live close to Braemar call the As-salaam Satellite Campus their home. The Ethekwini Metropolitan Municipality hosts several campuses, such as the Durban Campus in Umbilo, Swinton Campus in Mobeni, Umbumbulu Campus in Amanzimtoti and the twin campuses of Umlazi located in sections BB and V of the sprawling township. Ubuhle Bogu Campus, which means “beauty of the coast”, ” is the KwaQiko community’s beacon.

The learning programmes at Coastal KZN TVET College are in line with the TVET model structure in general. The broad categories are the National Certificate Vocational (NCV), NATED programmes, Skills Training and Learnerships.

The National Certificate Vocational is a multi-level alternative to traditional high school, focusing on vocational studies. Introduced in 2007, it comprises levels 2,3 and 4, equivalent to grades 10, 11 and 12, respectively. The entry requirement for NCV is a Grade 9 pass. A certificate is issued at the end of each level. There are seven subjects at each level, with Language, Life Orientation and Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy being compulsory. A student may then choose the remainder of the subjects from a stream such as:
